About the Role
Sandvik Mining is a global leading supplier of equipment, tools, parts, services, and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. The Artisan Assistant role supports artisans in effective maintenance and breakdown tasks for Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist artisans with service and breakdown activities.
- Perform visual inspections of machines.
- Maintain cleanliness of workshop, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Follow workshop map and procedures.
- Check wrapping and hoses.
- Relay messages between operations and provide feedback to artisans.
- Comply with SMRT SHEQ management system objectives and targets.
- Use correct tools and report hazardous conditions.
- Participate in incident/accident investigations.
- Conduct technical readings and assist with scheduled and unplanned maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent.
- Computer literacy, including Excel and graphical presentation tools.
- English proficiency.
- First Aid Level 1 (advantageous).
- Experience in a manufacturing workshop.
- Relevant mechanised mining equipment experience.
- Physical and medical ability to work in a workshop or underground environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
