Programme Overview
The Afrimat IT Internship Programme 2026 is a 12-month paid internship designed for young South Africans who are interested in starting a career in Information Technology. This opportunity is ideal for school leavers, as no tertiary qualification is required.
Interns will gain hands-on experience providing IT support within a mining environment, working in a professional and fast-paced setting while supporting various operational sites.
Role Purpose
The IT Intern will gain practical, entry-level experience by:
- Providing IT and technical support across Afrimat operational sites
- Supporting internal users with day-to-day IT-related needs
- Developing essential skills required for a career in Information Technology
- Gaining exposure to IT support within a mining and industrial environment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic IT and technical support at operational sites
- Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Support internal staff with IT-related queries and system usage
- Complete IT administration, documentation, and support logs
- Travel between different sites to provide IT support when required
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) – no tertiary qualification required
- Driver’s Licence: Valid Code 8 driver’s licence (mandatory)
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Kathu, Northern Cape
- Medical Fitness: Must pass a medical examination in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act
