Role Overview
Sandvik is seeking a Technical Trainer – P2 to design, develop, and deliver high-quality technical training programmes. The role focuses on curriculum development, skills transfer, compliance, and customer satisfaction while ensuring learners gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on technical competence.
This position is based in Burgersfort and requires flexibility to travel and work varied hours when required.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Design & Development
- Develop learning curricula, materials, and training programmes
- Conduct job, task, performance, and critical incident analysis
- Define learning objectives, outcomes, and unit standards
- Design lesson plans, learning modules, assessments, and learner guides
- Develop skill hierarchies, pre-tests, and competency-based assessments
- Review, update, and improve learning materials continuously
Training Delivery & Skills Transfer
- Prepare training environments, learners, and learning aids
- Conduct pre-assessments and identify skills gaps
- Facilitate classroom and hands-on technical training
- Assess learner competence and provide structured feedback
- Deliver practical training on underground mining equipment
Legal Compliance & SHEQ
- Identify SHEQ risks and implement corrective actions
- Ensure safe training environments and PPE compliance
- Maintain assessment records, lesson plans, and control documents
- Report incidents and accidents according to procedures
- Issue certificates to competent learners and maintain records
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate training schedules (internal & external)
- Conduct training needs analysis
- Gather and act on learner and client feedback
- Provide improvement feedback reports
- Liaise with internal service departments
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- Relevant Trade Certificate (with apprenticeship contract or PoE)
- Certificate of Competence in ETDP or Adult Education Facilitation
- Proven competence in course design and development
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a technician or specialist on Sandvik products
- Basic computer literacy
- English proficiency
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
Advantageous:
- Mechatronics certification
- Knowledge of i-Series equipment (SICA)
Technical Experience Required
- Assessment of technical competence
- Maintenance of underground drills and loaders
- Mechanical systems: gearboxes, compressors, pumps
- Low-profile equipment fault finding
- Service and repair of rock drills, pneumatics, electrical, and hydraulic systems
