About the Role

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is seeking a high-performing Area Sales Manager to drive volume and revenue growth across all channels. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this role is responsible for expanding the customer base, managing key accounts, and ensuring brilliant execution through sales representatives.


Key Purpose of the Role

To deliver sustainable volume and revenue growth by leading, coaching, and managing sales teams, optimizing customer partnerships, and executing effective market and trade strategies.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and track daily sales targets, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Drive excellence in trade and outlet execution.
  • Partner with sales representatives and customers to develop and execute customer-specific business plans.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and manage trade replacements.
  • Negotiate permanent, promotional, and ad hoc space with customers.
  • Understand pack margins and pack roles per customer to optimize revenue growth.
  • Utilize market research and data analysis (e.g. Nielsen, loyalty data) to develop programs and provide feedback to customers.
  • Identify business growth opportunities and implement innovative execution strategies.
  • Monitor competitor activity and develop effective response tactics.
  • Lead, coach, and develop sales teams to achieve targets and maintain high performance standards.
  • Ensure accurate execution of company policies, processes, and reporting requirements.

Skills, Experience & Education

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Post-matric qualification in Sales and Marketing
  • Marketing or equivalent Diploma/Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ sales experience, preferably within an FMCG environment
  • Strong product and industry knowledge

  • Ability to lead teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent stress management and prioritization skills
