class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) invites applications for the <strong>Heritage Bursary Programme 2026<\/strong>, aimed at supporting students pursuing <strong>rare and specialised heritage-related qualifications<\/strong> that contribute to preserving South Africa\u2019s cultural identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bursary prioritises talented students, particularly those from <strong>disadvantaged backgrounds<\/strong>, and serves as an alternative for applicants who may not qualify for NSFAS or other funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the Bursary Covers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bursary covers approved study-related costs up to a maximum of <strong>R110,000<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tuition fees (paid directly to the institution)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prescribed textbooks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electronic device (laptop or tablet) \u2013 up to R10,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accommodation \u2013 up to R50,000 (subject to need and availability)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meals \u2013 up to R18,500<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transport \u2013 up to R10,000 (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a South African citizen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be 40 years old or younger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a minimum academic average of 65%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be registered or accepted at a DHET-accredited institution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not be funded by any other bursary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not be fully employed earning more than R130,000 per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><br>Part-time employed applicants must submit certified proof of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligible Fields of Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications for programmes <strong>not listed below will be rejected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Heritage, Anthropology &amp; Archaeology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heritage and Museum Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Curatorship, Preservation, and Conservation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preventive Conservation (Postgraduate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physical and Biological Anthropology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Archaeology (Maritime, Underwater, Digital)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Geography, Earth &amp; Information Sciences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Geography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Geomatic Sciences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Palaeontology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cartography or GIS (Postgraduate specialisations)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Library and Information Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Archives and Records Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digitisation of Heritage Resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Indigenous Knowledge &amp; Social Sciences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>History<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Documents<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All documents must be <strong>certified and not older than 3
