About the Role
Boxer is seeking a skilled and proactive OHS Officer to join the team at the Muldersdrift Distribution Centre. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing OHS risk strategies to ensure a safe, compliant, and well-regulated working environment across the Boxer Group.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or 3-year Degree in Safety / Occupational Health & Safety.
- Environmental certificate (advantage).
- 3–5 years OHS experience.
- Strong understanding of OHS Act, SANS regulations, Water & Pollution Act, and Environmental Act.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Excel.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Implementation
- Develop and implement new OHS risk policies and procedures.
External Relationship Management
- Liaise with Department of Labour, Fire Department, Health Department, and other external bodies.
- Provide OHS reports and documentation as required.
Risk Identification & Evaluation
- Identify and assess risks in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct on-site inspections, complete checklists, gather evidence.
- Investigate incidents when needed.
- Stay up to date with new regulations and legislative changes.
Compliance & Risk Control
- Maintain and update the OHS risk register weekly.
- Ensure contractors have valid letters of good standing before work begins.
- Document findings, submit recommendations, obtain management responses, and follow up on implementation.
- Report on risks and liaise with relevant internal and external departments.
Teamwork & Leadership
- Provide training and hands-on guidance to new OHS staff.
- Manage workflow, prioritise tasks, and navigate obstacles effectively.
- Share insights, debate issues constructively, and work collaboratively.
- Demonstrate strong mentoring, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
