Job Summary
The Credit Manager – Commercial and Agriculture is responsible for managing the credit function across Commercial, Agriculture, Commercial Asset Finance (CAF), and Commercial Property Finance (CPF) portfolios.
The role focuses on lending activities within the Growth, Premium, and High-Value Relationship Banking segments, with responsibility for a specific regional portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Management
- Implement credit risk management frameworks and risk appetite strategies aligned to portfolio requirements
- Conduct high-quality credit assessments and make responsible risk decisions
Portfolio Performance & Analysis
- Monitor and analyse credit portfolio performance
- Identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities
- Recommend and implement risk adjustments where required
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Support Relationship Banking teams with credit expertise
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal Absa policies
- Maintain high standards of credit governance and documentation
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required)
Experience & Skills
- Strong experience in commercial and agricultural credit risk management
- Sound understanding of lending products across CAF and CPF portfolios
- Ability to analyse complex financial information and credit structures
- Strong stakeholder management and decision-making skills
