This role is within the MMerge Product Management team and provides exposure to all aspects of managing legacy savings products.


Role Purpose

The Actuarial Specialist will:

  • Perform actuarial product management tasks within Momentum Life – MMerge Product Management (South) team
  • Collaborate with actuarial specialists, business analysts, and segment managers to execute strategies aligned with Momentum Group objectives
  • Ensure products are managed effectively in terms of profitability, compliance, and client value

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage legacy life insurance products while balancing stakeholder objectives
  • Monitor profitability and implement changes to align with legislation
  • Identify system errors and ensure successful resolutions
  • Ensure fair client treatment through product design, communication, and advice
  • Optimise product value via reinsurance and other initiatives
  • Participate in product consolidation, including:
    • Rationalising product range and providing specifications
    • Analysing system data and producing reports for consolidation/migration
    • Co-creating product enhancements and documenting existing product bases
  • Monitor actuarial basis items (mortality, lapses, etc.) and implement corrective actions
  • Contribute to innovation and share new ideas for client solutions
  • Support service areas in resolving client queries
  • Ensure consistent service delivery aligned with Company Values and Treating Customers Fairly principles

Requirements

  • Education: Actuarial / Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics or Statistics majors
  • Professional Progress: Strong progress in actuarial exams, minimum completion for recognition as Technical Member of ASSA (TASSA) or equivalent
  • Experience: 2–3 years in financial services; experience with life insurance product development/pricing is advantageous
  • Skills:
    • Strong numerical, analytical, and computer skills (Excel & Word essential)
    • Data management and extraction experience advantageous
    • Client-centric mindset, innovative and results-focused
