Netcare invites qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Enrolled Nurse at UCT Private Academic Hospital.
Role Summary
The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes accountability for own actions and participation in nursing programmes designed to meet patient needs while ensuring high standards of care, safety, and professionalism.
Key Work Outputs & Accountabilities
Consistency of Care
Administration Management
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Ensure correct charging and control of stock
- Assist with patient file compilation
Governance, Quality & Risk Management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment
- Adhere to medical and general waste management principles
- Comply with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act
- Identify and report potential or actual risks
- Ensure correct use, cleaning, and storage of equipment
- Report faulty equipment to the Sister-in-Charge
- Maintain professional conduct in line with hospital policies
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times
- Provide supervision and guidance to Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs)
Patient Care
- Deliver nursing care within the Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice
- Take responsibility for assigned patient care activities
- Contribute to holistic patient care and wellbeing
- Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives
- Attend shift handovers and communicate effectively with patients
- Apply infection prevention and standard precautions
- Promote positive relationships with patients, relatives, and visitors
- Execute procedures according to hospital standards
- Refer complaints to the Sister-in-Charge
- Perform additional departmental duties as required

Skills Profile
Qualifications & Registration
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse
or - Equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification
Compliance
- Adherence to SANC Code of Conduct
- Compliance with all applicable healthcare legislation
Experience
- Relevant nursing experience will be an advantage
