Role Overview
The Learning Advisor – Operations Engineering (Rigging & Plating) is responsible for coordinating and delivering safety and compliance-related training programmes in line with regulatory requirements and organisational standards.
This role supports the Learning Delivery function by ensuring high-quality, accessible, and compliant learning solutions that promote a strong culture of safety, competence, and continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Training Delivery
- Coordinate and deliver safety training aligned with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards
- Support safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety excellence
- Collaborate with Section Manager Learning Delivery, safety officers, and operational teams
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops with subject matter experts
- Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials and digital learning resources
Administration & Coordination
- Coordinate training logistics, including scheduling, venues, and participant registration
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation for audit readiness
- Serve as a point of contact for employee training queries and support
- Provide administrative support for training needs analysis, competency assessments, and performance appraisals
Talent & Development Support
- Assist with mentoring, cross-training, and leadership development initiatives
- Collaborate with P&O and operational leaders to identify and prioritise learning needs
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within learning programmes
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with training-related legal and regulatory requirements
- Assist with compliance training (ethics, anti-discrimination, harassment prevention)
- Support training audits, evaluations, and reporting
- Stay informed on changes in legislation, regulations, and industry standards
- Ensure learning procedures and processes are current, quality-controlled, and adhered to at site level
Qualifications
Required:
- Grade 12
- National Diploma: OD ETDP
- Trade Certificate (Rigging or Plating)
- Assessor Certificate
- Moderator Certificate
- Valid EB / Code 08 Driver’s Licence
Advantageous:
- Risk Management Certification
- ISO 9001:2015 Certification
- Foreman Scheme Certification
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience
- Appointment as an Engineering Specialist will be advantageous
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of South African labour laws and training regulations within mining
- Familiarity with LMS / SIMS and digital learning tools
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design
- Auditing and quality assurance knowledge (advantageous)
- Project management exposure (advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems
- Strong organisational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
