Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking experienced Fixed-Term Cashiers for the Sunninghill Store. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service at point of sale, ensuring a professional and efficient shopping experience. You will capture customer transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem system while maintaining strict compliance with operating procedures and fraud-prevention standards.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Excellent command of English
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain professional customer relationships
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to management
  • Maintain the required customer turnover rate
  • Stay informed about current promotions and sales
  • Ensure safety and minimise risk for customers and colleagues
  • Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
  • Manage cash flow responsibly
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised
  • Process purchases, payments, refunds, and exchanges
  • Handle all loyalty cards, including partner programmes (Discovery, Medihelp, Momentum, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks)
  • Secure cash in drop safes as per SOPs
  • Protect your till code and password
  • Ensure all outgoing goods are scanned and paid for
  • Keep money secure inside the till
  • Maintain confidentiality around daily takings
  • Report suspicious behaviour to management
  • Assist customers with merchandise queries
  • Follow all security procedures
