About the Role
The HR Officer provides comprehensive support across all core HR functions, focusing on:
- Labour relations
- Talent acquisition
- Payroll support
- Skills development
- Employment equity
You will strengthen operational HR delivery, ensuring compliance with legislation, MEIBC requirements, and internal policies while supporting managers with accurate and timely HR services.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Provide first-line support on disciplinary matters, grievances, absenteeism, and performance issues.
- Assist with investigations, evidence gathering, documentation, and case file preparation.
- Support hearings and implement outcomes.
- Maintain labour relations register and assist with trend analysis.
Talent Acquisition
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, including adverts, screening, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks, and offer letters.
- Ensure EE alignment and compliance in recruitment decisions.
- Maintain talent pipelines and support onboarding processes.
Skills Development
- Coordinate internal/external training programs and maintain training registers.
- Support WSP/ATR submissions and merSETA audits.
- Track development plans and support learning interventions.
Employment Equity
- Coordinate EE Committee meetings, prepare reports (EEA2, EEA4), and maintain dashboards.
- Ensure EE principles are applied in recruitment, promotions, and development.
Payroll Support
- Prepare accurate monthly payroll input, verify reports, and align payroll with MEIBC conditions.
HR Administration & Reporting
- Maintain HR records in compliance with POPIA and audits.
- Prepare standard HR reports and support policy implementation and HR projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: National Diploma or Degree in HR Management or related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years HR Generalist experience, including labour relations, talent acquisition, skills development, employment equity, payroll, and compliance within MEIBC-regulated environments.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong administrative discipline and attention to detail
- Confident communication and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to manage confidential info
- Problem-solving and sound judgment
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems (SAGE300 and Workday)
