About the Role
Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana (CCBB) is seeking a Packaging Engineer to join its Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for ensuring the engineering integrity, reliability, and performance of the packaging plant. The successful candidate will lead asset care initiatives, manage maintenance performance, ensure high plant uptime, and provide effective engineering support to production teams, including oversight of outsourced maintenance services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Asset Care
- Lead and implement the plant and facility asset care plan.
- Ensure compliance with Engineering Change Management procedures and audit standards.
- Address technical competency gaps and training requirements.
Plant Reliability
- Ensure optimal reliability and uptime of packaging lines.
- Implement predictive maintenance techniques and verify maintenance quality.
- Analyse failure modes and eliminate repeat failures through root cause analysis.
Breakdown Response
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Conduct detailed breakdown investigations and implement corrective actions.
Plant Optimisation
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Optimise plant performance through process and equipment improvements.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and develop the Maintenance and Support (MAS) team.
- Conduct performance reviews, goal-setting sessions, and training plans.
- Foster a culture of ownership, empowerment, and high performance.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure full compliance with CCBA safety standards and legislative requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and regular safety meetings.
Budget Management
- Manage asset care budgets and support maintenance budget development.
- Control maintenance costs and manage CAPEX expenditure effectively.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Ensure effective maintenance planning and execution.
- Coordinate MAS availability, special tools, spares, and maintenance schedules.

Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications
- BSc Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ maintenance experience
- Strong engineering and packaging knowledge within a CCBA or similar environment
- Deep understanding of packaging operations, processes, and systems
- At least 4 years’ line management experience
