Position Overview
Sandvik Mining is seeking a qualified Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its Field Service team. This role involves maintaining, repairing, commissioning, and troubleshooting advanced mining equipment at customer sites across Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on mining equipment
- Conduct diagnostics and root cause analysis (RCA)
- Commission new equipment (pre-delivery and on-site)
- Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
- Complete maintenance reports and obtain customer sign-off
- Coach junior technicians and customer staff
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
Health & Safety
- Follow Sandvik safety policies and government regulations
- Conduct risk assessments before tasks
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents
- Maintain tools and PPE standards
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in a Mechanical Field
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (mining equipment experience preferred)
- Ability to read technical schematics
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel and work varied shifts
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Experience with Sandvik equipment is an asset.
