About the Bursary

The Thapelo Madibeng Bursary Scheme 2026, administered by CETA, provides financial support to unemployed South African students pursuing qualifications in the built environment. The bursary seeks to:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Unemployed
  • Studying or intending to study a built-environment qualification
  • Enrolled at a public institution of higher learning in South Africa
  • Minimum academic average of 50%
  • Household income below R600,000 per annum

Only applicants who meet all criteria will be considered.


Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit certified copies of:

  • South African ID
  • Matric certificate or statement of results (for first-year applicants)
  • Latest tertiary academic record (for returning students)
  • Proof of acceptance or registration from a public tertiary institution
  • Parents’/guardians’ ID documents
  • Parents’/guardians’ proof of income (payslips or affidavits)
  • Signed affidavit confirming unemployment status

Incomplete or incorrect documentation may lead to disqualification.
