Internship Overview
The Council for Geoscience is offering three Human Resources Internship positions on a 24-month fixed-term contract. This opportunity is designed for graduates looking to gain practical exposure in HR operations within a structured and supportive environment.
- Position: Intern: Human Resources (x3)
- Location: Pretoria (Head Office)
- Duration: 24 months
- Stipend: R13 000 per month
- Reporting to: Manager: Human Resources
What You’ll Be Doing
Recruitment Support
- Assist with screening job applications
- Coordinate interview schedules
- Prepare recruitment documentation
- Support pre-employment checks and onboarding processes
HR Administration
- Help manage payroll-related tasks and employee benefits administration
- Maintain and update HR records and databases
- Organise internal meetings, events, and documentation
Learning & Development
- Provide support for training initiatives and employee development programs
Employee Relations
- Assist with day-to-day employee relations matters and HR support activities
HR Projects
- Contribute to internal projects such as performance management and employee wellness programs
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure HR processes align with organisational policies and best practices
- Work within established standards such as ISO frameworks
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
- Human Resources Management
- Human Resources Development
- Or a related qualification
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of South African labour legislation:
- BCEA (Basic Conditions of Employment Act)
- LRA (Labour Relations Act)
- EEA (Employment Equity Act)
- SDA (Skills Development Act)
Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Professional English communication
