About the Department

The Department of Employment and Labour is responsible for promoting fair labour practices and administering UIF services. It ensures compliance with labour laws and provides support to unemployed individuals through claims processing and benefits delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 6 qualification in relevant field (Business, Public Admin, Finance, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • 2 years experience in UIF, claims processing, or insurance operations

Knowledge & Skills

  • UIF Act (UIA) and Contributions Act (UICA)
  • POPIA and Batho Pele Principles
  • Departmental policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and planning ability
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and systems)

Key Responsibilities

UIF Service Delivery

  • Assist clients with UIF services
  • Process and administer UIF claims
  • Ensure compliance with UIF legislation
  • Provide frontline customer service

Quality Assurance & Administration

  • Check accuracy of UI applications
  • Follow up on pending claims
  • Maintain correct records and documentation
  • Ensure processing standards are met

Supervision & Resource Management

  • Supervise staff in the section
  • Manage equipment and resources
  • Support operational efficiency
  • Ensure smooth workflow in Labour Centre
