Role Overview
The Unemployed Learner: Visual Merchandiser role provides structured, work-based learning aimed at equipping participants with commercial knowledge and practical skills. Learners will support customer servicing, order-taking processes, and the execution of merchandising standards to drive volume growth across assigned outlets.
The role reports to the Account Developer.
Key Purpose of the Role
To develop learners with the skills required to:
- Service customers effectively
- Support sales execution and merchandising standards
- Grow product visibility and availability
- Execute in-store activities across a designated geographical area
Key Stakeholder Interaction
The role interacts with:
- Sales Team Members: Collaboration on daily tasks and knowledge sharing
- Sales Account Developer: Coaching, guidance, performance feedback, and safety compliance
- Consumers: Understanding buying behaviour to support sales strategies
Key Duties & Responsibilities
In-Store Execution & Merchandising Excellence
- Execute daily call schedules across assigned bronze and tin outlets
- Implement visual merchandising standards and stock rotation
- Ensure product availability, visibility, and quality in line with brand guidelines
- Complete execution scorecards and the iRED survey
- Support customers with order placement via the MyCCBA platform
- Assist with promotional activities to increase brand visibility
- Provide relief support when required by the line manager
Skills, Experience & Education
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics or Maths Literacy (minimum 40% pass rate)
- Grade 12 with English and a second language (minimum 40% pass rate)
- South African Citizen
- Aged between 18 and 35 years
- Employment Equity candidate
- Must be unemployed at the time of appointment
- Must be available to work six (6) days per week
- No criminal or adverse credit record
- Must consent to criminal, ID, and qualification verification
- Must not be enrolled in another learnership or full-time studies
- Must not have previously completed the same learnership
- Driver’s Licence (advantageous)
- Post-matric qualification in Sales & Marketing (advantageous)
Learnership Information
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification requirement: Minimum of 120 credits to successfully complete the programme
